Part Two

This is Part Two of the series, ‘Promoting Your Blog‘.  Having read Part One of ‘Promoting Your Blog‘, you would have seen the first three steps.   In this post, I’m going to look at some more ways you can gain exposure for your blog.

Step Four of Promoting Your Blog

Continuing on with the theme of promoting your blog by promoting yourself comes the juggernaut that is Social Media.  This Social Media video will emphasize the impact  that it has on our lives.

Social Media is one of the best avenues for promoting your blog.  Consider the numbers; Facebook has around 350 million users worldwide.  If Facebook was a country, it would be the fourth largest in the world today.  By the end of 2010, Twitter is expected to have around 26 million users.

The figures are staggering but these are only two sites of the many that are available.  These people are all potential readers of your blog.  It just makes so much sense to tweet a link to your latest blog post or include the link in one of your status updates on Facebook.

There’s also the Social Bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious and StumbleUpon.  These sites make it so much easier to share your content and find new readers for your blog.

Step Five of Promoting Your Blog

Promoting your blog is about making it as easy as possible for your readers to stay up to date with your latest posts and share the content that they find valuable.

Firstly an RSS Feed is vital to ensuring that visitors to your site get the opportunity to become loyal readers.  Just display the RSS icon prominently so that visitors know they can get your latest blog posts sent to them.

Secondly, consider adding some social media buttons to your site to encourage visitors to share the posts that they enjoy.  The more your content is shared throughout the various Social Media platforms; the greater your chances of increasing readers for your blog.

Step Six of Promoting Your Blog

So, hopefully through all of the social networking you have been doing, you have found a few blogs in the same niche as yours that you enjoy.  Now is the time to consider becoming a Guest Blogger.

Guest Blogging is a fantastic way of  promoting your blog. You gain exposure for your blog and get backlinks in the process.  The advantage of being a Guest Blogger is that it’s a win win situation.  Each of you will benefit from the deal.

Essentially, you contact the blogger and politely ask if they would be willing to post an article on their blog that you have written.  Obviously, you would return the favor and give them the same privilege.

You can use the same process to ask for a reciprocal link.  Again, it’s a win win situation because each of you will gain a backlink for your blog.

Final Words on Promoting Your Blog

There are many ways to promote your blog.  As many ways as there is for you to interact with people; there are ways to promote your blog.   I hope you’ve enjoyed my look at the various ways of promoting your blog.
